There can be times in life when we feel anxious, overwhelmed, miserable and stuck. It can be difficult to make positive changes sometimes, or even to feel that this is possible. Working individually with a therapist allows a confidential space to explore how you want your life to be different, to find your strengths, to see things differently and to take back control of your life.
In my therapy approach, I am compassionate and open. My focus is on your goals or aims, and working with you to help you make positive change. I use evidence based approaches, primarily CBT, ACT and EMDR, and where needed other evidence based treatment approaches that will make the most difference to your life. I see adults for assessment and therapy.
I have worked as a Clinical Psychologist for many years, both in Australia and in the UK. I began my career working in community mental health settings, and then moved to hospital based mental health settings for a few years. I have worked in independent and private practice in both Australia and the UK, including working as the Head of Psychological Services for a large NHS Mental Health Trust for some years. I have provided clinical therapy across a range of clinical settings.

The most important part of the therapy, regardless of which approach we decide to use, is getting an understanding of what is happening for you and what might help. We will always discuss the different evidence based therapy options and agree together on what might be the most effective way to work together. We are working as a team.

Integrative Working essentially means that the therapist draws on a range of evidence based therapies, with the focus on a flexible, holistic approach to therapy where different therapeutic techniques and models are combined to meet the client’s individual needs. This approach recognizes that no single therapeutic method is universally effective for all individuals or conditions. By integrating methods from various schools of thought—such as, for example, CBT, ACT, solution focused and systems approaches, alongside mindfulness practices—the approach can be tailored to what works for the client and the challenges they are facing, at any given time. Essentially, this approach focuses on creating a personalized treatment plan that incorporates the most effective interventions, blending strategies from different modalities to enhance the therapeutic experience and outcomes.
