How can I decide if you would be able to help me?
It’s always a difficult choice to make. Often, it helps to have a direct conversation. You’re very welcome to get in touch with me through this website (see Contact). I usually aim to respond within a day and offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation at a time that suits you. This gives you the chance to ask any questions and get a sense of whether we might be a good fit. I’ll also ask you a few questions to better understand what’s going on for you and whether I think I can help.
What type of therapy approaches do you use?
I use a range of evidence-based therapies, including CBT, ACT, EMDR, Solution Focused Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Integrative approaches, and Systems Therapy. My approach is always warm, compassionate, and collaborative. I work with you to choose the therapeutic methods that are most likely to help you achieve your goals.
Do you see children?
No, I work with adults only.
Do you offer marital or relationship therapy as well as individual therapy?
Yes, I also offer relationship work with couples.
Do you provide neurorehabilitation or cognitive remediation?
Yes, I work with a range of cognitive and thinking difficulties. I see individuals alone and, where helpful, with family members to provide rehabilitation and cognitive remediation. I also link in with other professionals involved in your care to offer a holistic approach.
Where can I see you?
I offer online sessions via Zoom, Skype, or other secure platforms. I also see clients face-to-face in rooms based in central St Albans.
Do you provide evening or weekend appointments?
I usually offer appointments during daytime working hours, though there may be occasional exceptions.
What can I expect from the first therapy session?
In our first session, I’ll ask you a number of questions—but always at a pace that works for you. You won’t be expected to do all the talking. I take a collaborative approach and aim to understand what’s happening for you, what might be contributing to the difficulties, and how we might work together. I’ll share my thoughts and we’ll agree together on the next steps.
What are your fees?
Therapy sessions are £130 per 60-minute session.
If you need a report, please contact me directly to discuss fees.
Do you accept clients with private health insurance?
Yes, I do. Please contact me to check whether I accept clients registered with your particular insurance provider.
Do you see clients where a third party is paying the fees?
Yes, I do. If a third party is covering your fees, please contact me directly to discuss this—it's usually not a problem.
If I see you for therapy, how long would I need to come for?
This really depends on your situation. Some people find a couple of sessions helpful. The therapies I use are generally short-term, with most people attending between 8 and 12 sessions.
Occasionally, I might work with someone over a longer period—up to 20 or more sessions. We’ll talk about this at the end of our first session and come to a shared understanding of what feels right for you. And of course, you’re always in control—if you decide therapy isn’t right for you, you can stop at any time.
Do I need to pay for a block of therapy at a time?
No, you can pay session by session.
